Robby Hill, Founder & CEO of information technology consulting firm HillSouth, started designing websites in the 7th grade and by the time he was legally old enough to sign contracts in South Carolina (age 17), he signed a lease for his first office space because he was generating enough revenue to do so. Plus, he was tired of running his business out of his parents’ house. Fifteen years later he’s a business role model and a public servant who leads a business culture based on fun.

Topics include:

  • The importance of surrounding oneself with successful people who have also experienced failure
  • Connecting with the right mentors and being a mentee
  • Learning from NOT being the best boss as an early leader
  • Having a fun culture to offset long hours, deadlines and high level work stress
  • The need for transparency and knowledge sharing with employees
  • How working with clients who impact that world creates internal excitement

Robby Hill is an entrepreneur, public servant, and Founder & CEO of information technology consulting firm HillSouth. Robby founded HillSouth at the age of 17, while still a student at West Florence High School. In 2012 he was elected to Councilman at the City of Florence, South Carolina; the state’s tenth-largest municipality. There he has led the creation of numerous pro-business initiatives including the launch of a new business incubator downtown.

Robby has received numerous accolades for his work through the years. The US Small Business Administration honored him as Young Entrepreneur of the Year for South Carolina and the Southeastern US in 2007.

His company, HillSouth, was honored by the South Carolina Department of Commerce in 2007 with the Palmetto Workforce Partnership Award. HillSouth ranked for multiple years on the Inc. Magazine 500|5000 list, received honors in multiple, consecutive years from CRN magazine as both a FastGrowth 100 company and NextGen 250 company for exceptional innovation and growth in the technology consulting industry.

Robby has also been named Small Business Person of the year by the Florence Chamber of Commerce and for two years in a row was honored at the White House as one of the top 100 young entrepreneurs in the United States of America, as ranked by the Empact group.
